Design trends come and go, but when it comes to tile we’re more interested in trends that are more like trusted friends than passing acquaintances. These kinds of design styles stick around, becoming part of your home’s story for the long haul–because let’s face it, a trend isn’t worth much if it doesn’t have the power to make you feel at home, now and down the line.
That’s why we’re excited to share our favorite design choices for 2024 and beyond, the ones that hit that sweet spot between what’s in right now and what’s going to keep your space looking beautiful for years to come. From sustainable choices that keep our earth in mind to classic looks with a modern twist, let’s get into these six stunning home decor trends for 2024.

1. Sustainability Forever
We say it every year, and we’ll say it again: sustainability isn’t just a trend, it’s a commitment. As we head into 2024, environmentally responsible design continues to lead the way in the industry with perhaps an even greater emphasis than ever before due to the ever-expanding effects of the climate crisis.
As a certified B Corp, we’re proud to embody our values by manufacturing our products and using our business as responsibly as possible. We believe that sustainability is the future of tiles, and it has always been at the heart of what we do. This was more evident than ever in the past year as we doubled down on our commitment to American manufacturing with the acquisition of our Washington Factory, our Glass Tile production being brought in-house making 100% of our products made in the USA, installing solar panels at our Aromas Factory, and so much more.
Working together as manufacturers, designers, and homeowners, we can take impactful steps toward a greener future with thoughtful design choices and continuous sustainable design innovation in tile. Join us!
2. It’s Hip to Be Square
Square tiles have a story to tell, and this year we’re listening more closely than ever. Whether you’re drawn to the modern elegance of a stacked layout or the playful rhythm of an offset pattern, square tiles offer a narrative of design that can be tailored to any tale you’d like to weave through your space.

Square tiles have a versatility that transcends trends. Although the classic installation pattern for squares is offset, you can easily give this pattern a modern refresh by choosing an unexpected pop of color (perhaps one of the colors from our 2024 tile trends?). Whether you’re drawn to vibrant shades or a neutral color palette, an offset square tile arrangement can infuse your space with a sense of movement and casual elegance.

Alternatively, you’ll get an entirely different look with the same shape just by installing them in a straight-set, or stacked, pattern. This orderly arrangement allows the simplicity of the square to speak volumes in a modern, understated space. Want to take this look even further? Our radiant Glass Tile brings a sleek, luminous quality that will give your installation a cutting-edge tile design for years to come.

3. Tiny Tiles, Big Impact
Mosaic tiles have stood the test of time–and as one of the top tile ideas for 2024, they’re definitely here to stay. These intricate pieces have a magical way of bringing life to any surface they grace, transforming backsplashes, flooring, and walls into stunning focal points. The hexagon floor tile in the bathroom below beautifully illustrates this point, turning Bright Bazaar’s functional space into a canvas for personal expression.
Tile: 2” Hexagon White Wash + Navy Blue, 3x6 Adriatic Sea | Design: Bright Bazaar
Play with sizes to create visual interest in your space, like the mosaic bathroom tiles below. A wainscot of 2x2 is topped by petite 1x1, enveloping the room in a soothing texture reminiscent of tranquil retreats and luxurious escapes. Our Mosaic Tiles come pre-sheeted, ensuring the meticulous placement of each tile in your installation that reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and allows even the most minimalist designs to carry a depth of detail.

We offer timeless 3x3 Mosaic Tile in several of our most popular shades starting at just $18/SqFt, available in our Quick Ship Shop so they ship in five days or less. Create the textural backdrop of your dreams at the drop of a hat!

Don’t underestimate the lasting impact of a custom mosaic design. With its roots in ancient artistry, we’re seeing a big resurgence in mosaic installations that are personalized to their owner in both floor and wall tiles. The stunning modern mosaic shower below provides a tactile experience that invites touch and closer appreciation–a testament to the enduring appeal of handcrafted tile.

4. Accents with Purpose
Intentional trimming in tile design is akin to the art of framing a masterpiece; it’s about creating a boundary that enhances, rather than overshadows, the beauty of the work it encases. From arched niches to eye-catching borders, a focus on tile trim is an enduring trend in our interior design forecast.

With a wide range of hand-crafted trim options available, you’re able to make the trim an essential part of the design whether you choose a contrasting or beautifully matching color from our exclusive glazes. If you opt for a tile wainscot, round liner trim in a matching color as shown below provides a visual pause that allows both the upper wall and tiled surface to stand out in harmony.

A shower niche with contrasting trim offers a perfect example of how trim can be used to highlight a specific area. The warm tones of the Quarter Round trim in the bathroom below draw the eye, making the niche a focal point and adding depth to the design. It’s a functional space turned into a decorative feature, showcasing how trim tiles can be both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Want a more distinguished look? Our handcrafted architectural moldings will do the trick. In Prepford Wife’s nautical bathroom shown below, the Sardis Architectural Molding not only defines the space but also brings in thematic coherence through color.

Contrasting trim has a special place in our hearts, and we love to see this trend being embraced more and more. Emily Vallely-Pertzborn nailed the Art Deco look in her Foxcroft Estate’s bathroom thanks to a black and white color palette. Radius Bullnose Trim and Flat Liner Trim in Raven create a graphic frame that gives the room a crisp, tailored look.

5. Pattern Play with Handpainted Tile
When the art of handpainting meets the canvas of tile, magic happens–and the design landscape is loving this fusion. Our artisan Handpainted Tile allows homeowners to infuse their kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, and even bedrooms with lasting works of art and loads of artisanal charm.

Handpainted Tile brings a burst of energy and character to any space, and it particularly shines in the kitchen, adding life to even the most utilitarian spaces. With a vivacious pattern like Signal from our Handpainted Block Shop x Fireclay Tile Collection across the backsplash, each tile contributes to a larger story, creating a cohesive pattern that’s both playful and sophisticated.

We love a good statement wall, and Handpainted Tile is an excellent choice to create an unforgettable piece. The bedroom below guarantees sweet dreams thanks to the half-moon tile pattern of our Harvest Tile across the wainscot and built-in nightstand.

6. Texture & Layering
The final trend in our tile style guide embraces the richness of textures and the sophistication of layering materials and finishes to create spaces that are as dynamic as they are inviting. Our Glazed Thin Brick and handcrafted Ceramic Tile is an ideal choice for this design style, offering a canvas for designers and homeowners alike to explore the interplay of light, shadow, and surface.
Each piece, with its unique texture and finish, contributes to the overall narrative of the space, inviting a closer look and an appreciation for the beauty of natural materials in their purest form.

Combining two different but complementary tiles in one space is a beautiful way to embrace texture and layering, particularly if the tiles have different finishes. The timeless bathroom below uses a wainscot of glossy elongated subway tiles with a floor of matte hexagons, pulling colors from the wallpaper to keep the space cohesive. And since our Ceramic Tile has a breaking strength that’s stronger than the average porcelain tile, it’s a functional and beautiful choice for floors.
