7. Embrace Color Variation
If you love the color variation inherent in our hand-mixed glazes, let your hexagon patterns show it off! High-variation shades like our bestselling Antique look downright mesmerizing when paired with a specialty shape like hexagon.
Tile: 8” Hexagon Antique
Keep in mind that our glazes are rated on a variation scale of 1–4, with level V1 having the least amount of variation and level V4 having the most. If you love the look of wide-ranging color variation, we recommend opting for level V3 or V4. Learn more about our handmade color variation here.

Whether you choose a larger hexagon size or even a small mosaic, using a high variation glaze creates a captivating visual effect on your floor or wall. The subtle shifts in color add depth and intrigue to your space, making it a true conversation starter.

8. Raw Edge Elegance
For an organic or geometric touch, consider finishing your hexagon install with a raw edge. Rather than using trim or hanging your tile to a corner or natural edge, let the honeycomb shape of the tile shine like the contemporary office kitchen below.
Tile: 6” Hexagon Desert Bloom | Design + Image: Banner Day interiors | Installer: Magenta, Inc.
Because the sides of hexagon tiles aren’t glazed, this pattern might be better if the raw edge isn’t extremely visible (unless you like that unfinished look! We’re here to support your unique vision). That’s why this pattern is often chosen for backsplashes, where the unfinished edges are closer to the ceiling and not directly in anyone’s line of sight.

9. Stunning Hexagon Stripes
Hexagons may not be the first shape you think of when you hear “tile stripes,” but that’s part of the fun! Striped hexagon tile patterns create a bold and dynamic statement, like the playful rainbow-striped floor in the bathroom below.
Tile: 8” Hexagon Lichen, Desert Bloom, Turquoise, Daffodil, Lemon Cream, Koi, Ember | Design: Rachael Bigio | Image: The Little Orange Table | Installer: Southland Remodeling
Another way to incorporate stripes in a hexagon pattern is to lay rows of our standard field tile directly into the hexagons. This look combines two timeless patterns for a classic look harkening back to days past.

10. Use Multiple Sizes
Experiment with hexagon tile sizes (we have six!) to create a unique and eye-catching design. Whether you use one size on a wall and another on the floor, like the restaurant bathroom below, playing with scale can add a visually appealing element to your space.
Tile: 6” Hexagon Basalt, 4” Hexagon Desert Bloom + Basalt | Image: Patricia Chang | Installer: Boor Bridges
We most frequently see this look with the combination of larger hexagons on the main floor of a bathroom with smaller hexagons in the same color installed in the shower pan. This allows a cohesive look by carrying the floor color throughout the room while providing more grip in the shower with the increased grout lines.
