Sizes & Shades of White Brick
At Fireclay, we have three white glaze colors available in our Glazed Thin Brick collection, all ideal for a backsplash installation: Lewis Range, Olympic and White Mountains. All three options are exclusive Fireclay glazes crafted by our in-house Innovation Team and hand-applied in our Aromas, CA factory to our domestically sourced Thin Brick Body–and two of them ship in 5 days or less from our Quick Ship Shop!
If you’re partial to a clean, modern installation then Lewis Range is an excellent choice. This is the brightest white available in our Glazed Thin Brick collection, and although the glaze is moderately thick the brick’s texture is still visible through the color. Lewis Range features a glossy finish with a semi-reflective sheen that pops beautifully in the light and has very low color variation, so if you’re going for a more uniform look we recommend this glaze.
Brick: Lewis Range
Olympic is a chameleon white that tends to reflect its environment by picking up cool or warm tones it’s featured among. This glaze is the most opaque of the white glazes since it uses a primer to enhance its color, meaning the texture of the brick shows through the least with Olympic (but it’s still visible!). It has distinctive crackled detailing thanks to its engobe glaze and a glossy finish with a semi-reflective sheen, with the possibility of wide-ranging color variation.
Brick: Olympic
The texture of brick shines through the most with White Mountains, a cool white brick with grey undertones. White Mountains features a matte finish and noticeable variation; the result is a brick that has a translucent appearance almost like an iced oatmeal cookie. This glaze is a designer favorite since it masterfully marries the rustic aspects of Brick with the sophistication of our hand-mixed glaze.
Brick: White Mountains
Like all of our Brick colors, Lewis Range and White Mountains are available in both a standard size of 8 x 2x5 inches and an elongated Norman size of 11.5 x 2.5 inches. We also have brick trim available in all glaze colors, which include glazed edges and corner trim for larger orders, to give your installation a polished finish.
Buy Brick, Do Good
Buying Fireclay’s brick tiles is more than an investment in aesthetics–it also contributes to conservation. As part of our commitment to protecting and honoring our planet, we donate 1% of all Brick sales to the National Parks Conservation Association (you may have noticed that each of our brick colors is named after a national park!). To date, we’ve proudly donated over $134,000 to the NPCA, helping to preserve America’s most iconic and inspirational places for future generations.
White Brick Backsplashes in Action
White brick is an endlessly versatile backsplash material. Whether your tastes lean toward homegrown traditional or sleek and modern, you’ll find that incorporating a white brick is an effortless way to infuse your space with a hint of texture. Although half-offset is the most classic installation pattern for this style, Glazed Thin Brick beautifully adapts to any other pattern you can think of: stacked, herringbone, parquet, and more. We’ve rounded up 20 of our favorite white brick backsplashes that span a variety of styles and patterns to give you the perfect dose of inspiration for your next brick project.
Half Splash, Big Impact

Balancing a beautiful aesthetic with a functional office kitchen isn’t easy, but The Little Market nailed it with a half splash of white brick. Lewis Range adds a glossy pop and textural feel under the open shelves of this space, beautifully grounding the bright and open workspace.
Soft & Classic

Some things never go out of style, and a classic white offset backsplash is one of them. The smooth surface of Olympic brick pairs beautifully with soft blue-grey cabinets in this timeless kitchen, infusing the space with a hint of rustic romanticism.
Brick Pattern Play
Brick: White Mountains | Design: Anita Yokota | Image: Sara Ligorria-Tramp
White Mountains’ noticeable color variation is on full display in a herringbone installation, with both elements adding endless visual interest to this modern backsplash. We love how designer Anita Yokota enhanced the visual appeal of the brick pattern by extending it around the kitchen window in an eye-catching counter-to-ceiling installation.
Modern Organic Bathroom Backsplash

Sarah Sherman Samuel’s signature modern organic style is actualized by a Lewis Range brick backsplash in Vanessa Carlton’s Soho loft bathroom. Paired with veined marble counters and a standout vanity, the white brick creates a bright and airy space in the historic NYC neighborhood.
A Petite Touch of Texture

Sometimes less is more–the contemporary kitchen above proves that you don’t always need a big backsplash to make a big impression. Lewis Range brick infuses the perfect dose of texture into this charming space, creating an eye-catching organic focal point with only four rows of brick behind the stove.
Embrace a Rustic Look
Brick: Olympic | Design + Image: Elana Jadallah and Aaron Haynes
From the sage green cabinets to the reclaimed wood shelving, every detail in this kitchen is inviting–but our favorite is the textured brick backsplash. Photographer Elana Loo embraced the rustic texture of brick but brightened up her modern farmhouse kitchen with glossy white Olympic.

Modern Meets Historic
Brick: White Mountains | Design: Lauren Bradshaw Design | Image: Joseph Bradshaw
Brick’s dappled surface and established history make this material a seamless addition to a historic home. Create a more modern look by installing white brick in a vertically stacked pattern, as Lauren Bradshaw did above. Tonal grout allows the texture of the brick to take center stage.
Texture Bridges Two-Toned Cabinets
Brick: White Mountains | Design: Heather Cleveland | Image: Steven J Magner
If you love the look of different upper and lower cabinet colors, a white brick backsplash can be the perfect bridge between the two. The texture of our Glazed Thin Brick in White Mountains above adds an earthy element to this modern space bracketed by sage green cabinets below and wood grain above.
Create Contrast With Color
Brick: White Mountains + Columbia Plateau | Design: Colossus Mfg | Image: Stephanie Russo
The beauty of white is its ability to effortlessly pair with any color, so if you’re looking to add a little oomph to your white brick backsplash you can easily go classic or get creative with one of our other 30+ brick colors. We love how the space above inserted pops of fan-favorite Columbia Plateau brick into the backsplash of White Mountains for a uniquely inviting result.
Contemporary Space Adds Height
Brick: Olympic | Design: Annabode + Co | Image: Brandon Lopez
If you have a smaller space, take a page out of this kitchen’s book and try a vertically offset white brick backsplash. This pattern draws the eye up, instantly adding height. The contrasting grey grout further emphasizes this visual trick while also giving our Olympic brick a contemporary edge.
A Polished Pop
Brick: Olympic | Design: R Titus Designs | Image: Kip Dawkins Photography
Beautifully illustrating how white can be the eye-catching element in an otherwise colorful space, Glossy Olympic brick pops in the natural light of this lake house kitchen between the elegant muted cabinets. If you love this polished pop, both Olympic and Lewis Range glazes feature a sheen that’s glossy and semi-reflective.
Borrow Bobby Berk’s Bathroom Look
Brick: Lewis Range | Design: Bobby Berk | Image: Tramp Studio
Brick in the bathroom doesn’t have to mean that you’re pigeonholed into a rustic or farmhouse style–just ask Bobby Berk! The Queer Eye designer balanced the organic texture of brick with modern design in this bright bathroom, giving floor-to-ceiling vertically stacked Lewis Range a streamlined spin.
Blue & White Are Always Right
Brick: Olympic | Design: Heidi LaChapelle Interiors | Image: Erin Little
There’s something inherently classic about a blue and white kitchen. The texture of brick puts a fresh spin on this timeless look, adding an organic feel to your space that enlivens cabinets from deep navy to Robin's egg blue. The space above takes the color scheme a step further by opting for upper open shelves, allowing the Olympic brick to be center stage.
Brick Goes Minimalist

Everything about this kitchen whispers “soft!” from the tranquil grey-green base cabinets to the seamless Olympic brick with tonal grout. Another white brick backsplash from the mind of Sarah Sherman Samuel, this space proves that brick and minimalism can happily go hand-in-hand.
Clean Cottage Kitchen
Brick: White Mountains | Design: Benni Amadi Interiors | Image: Lauren Edith
The sweet simplicity of an all-white kitchen is always enhanced with a bit of texture. This cottage kitchen benefits from a traditional backsplash of White Mountains brick, adding visual interest and a subtle rustic feel.
A Bay Window of Brick
Brick: Lewis Range | Design + Image: Tiffany Weiss Interior Design
We love how the bright, classic kitchen above framed the beautiful view out of the bay window with the organic look of white brick. The counter-to-ceiling backsplash provides an elegant complement to the bucolic setting without detracting from the view itself–a lesson in understated sophistication.
Elevated Farmhouse Kitchen
Brick: Olympic | Design: Lauren Madden | Image: Sarah Porter
White brick in a farmhouse kitchen just feels right, so if your space or style tilts toward farmhouse this material is an ideal choice. Olympic’s dimpled texture, timeless color, and offset pattern are right at home in Lauren Madden’s 19th-century Vermont house, protecting her kitchen walls with durable elegance.
Cool White Contemporary
Brick: White Mountains | Design + Image: The Fresh Exchange
Lean into the cool side of White Mountains brick by crafting a counter-to-ceiling backsplash complete with a coordinating tiled range hood. The contemporary space above complements the wall of texture with soft grey cabinets and white walls for an overall look that’s reminiscent of walking into a cloud.
Matte & Modern
Brick: White Mountains | Design: Cameron Getter Design | Image: Kieran Reeves Photography
Embrace the handmade edges and perfectly imperfect texture of brick by installing it in a vertical straight-set. This orderly installation allows the unique shape and surface of each brick tile to be on full display, and we couldn’t love it more. To replicate this look, make sure that your installer is familiar with handmade tile and follows our brick installation guide when hanging the tile.
Add a Midcentury Touch
Brick: Lewis Range | Design: BOXI by Semihandmade | Image: Molly Rose Photo | Installer: BOXI by Semihandmade
Known for its sleek lines and organic forms, midcentury modern style pairs nicely with a white brick backsplash. The space above chose a clean offset pattern with walnut cabinets and midcentury-inspired hardware, but if you want to dial into this style a little more you could go with a stacked pattern instead.
