10. Tri-Color Checkerboard
Now this is how you do sophisticated color. Finished with a sumptuous satin sheen, three shades of understated square tile combine in one chic bathroom installation.
Not only is a classic two-colored checkered pattern rethought here, but so is the traditional look of checkered floors. We love how the pattern transitions from the floor up the walls, creating no shortage of visual interest.

9. A Spotlight on Natural Light
What better way to draw attention to a bathroom skylight than by highlighting it with your tile choices? This stunning shower, already featuring an attention-grabbing pattern with straight-set 6” Triangles in soft pink Desert Bloom, takes the look a step further with an accent of Lemon Cream right under the corner where natural light spills in. A floor of matching yellow subway tile makes the space feel cohesive.

8. Stripes – With More Stripes
Stripes are already a bold choice for bathrooms, but this space kicks it up a notch by interspersing horizontal ivory and grey stripes with vertical lines. The result is at once soothing thanks to the soft colors and symmetrical lines, and also an understated take on bold design.
The effect is wrapped around the entire bathroom, from the backsplash on one wall to the shower across from it. This makes the pattern feel much more immersive than adorning an accent wall in the pattern.
7. Two-Toned Texture
Brick can be bold, too. Designed by Admad AbouZanat, the Kips Bay Show House NYC features a high-end bathroom clad floor-to-ceiling in vertically and horizontally stacked color block Glazed Thin Brick. Rust-colored Columbia Plateau delineates the soaking tub area, while rustic White Mountains adorns the rest of the elevated space.
6. Pretty in Pastels
Another multicolored checkered look, a completely different feel. This eclectic bathroom gets the perfect color treatment with six of our pastel glazes alongside warm white Feldspar to create a bathroom that’s as covetable as it is cheerful.
Renowned color lover and designer Gray Benko balanced the kaleidoscopic floor and shower walls with a pure white tile wainscot, pastel blue walls, and sunny yellow bathroom doors.

5. Large-Scale Checkerboard
Don’t be afraid to scale up your checkered tile. The cabin bathroom below does just that with our 8x8 square ceramic tile in matte Carbon and Antique – and the result is ultra-sophisticated. Don’t even get us started on the gorgeous charcoal and terracotta palette stretching all the way around the tub surround.

4. Shades of Herringbone
Step inside an entirely unique take on the pink bathroom tile trend. Rather than a classic wainscot of bubblegum pink, this modern space delivers on both pattern and hues.
We don’t see sideways herringbone often, which is why the gorgeous floor-to-ceiling design by Jen Pinkston is all the more striking. Three shades of pastel pink help to soften the bold zigzag pattern, which is mirrored on the conjoining walls.
3. Double Color Drench
Two daring color choices make for one unforgettable design. Fondly nicknamed the Kermit and Miss Piggy bathroom in boutique hotel Noble + Proper, our pink Desert Bloom and lime green Limon glazes come together to create eye-catching stripes across the shower and floor of the space.

2. Black & White & Blue All Over
This bathroom’s eclectic blend of white, black, and electric blue tile feels both fresh and unique. Designer Jessica Davis wanted her kids’ bathroom to feel timeless and sophisticated but still be fun. The result is a one-of-a-kind look reminiscent of piano keys.
1. A Rainbow Patchwork
Our top bold bathroom, courtesy of Racheal Jackson of Banyan Bridges, sets a stunning foundation with a colorful quilt-like floor of no less than nine Fireclay colors thoughtfully arranged in an offset patchwork pattern. Unexpectedly, the vibrant color block shower adds a creative visual anchor to the space.
