We’re excited to share that our 2023 Impact Report is now publicly available, showcasing our achievements, opportunities, and future goals in sustainability, community engagement, and corporate responsibility. This year, we're especially proud to celebrate our successful B Corp recertification with a score of 127.7–which is a significant leap from our most recent score of 115.4 that we received in 2020.
Since becoming the first tile company to earn B Corp Certification in 2014, we've been committed to continually raising the bar. "We’re proud to have consistently increased our score with each three-year recertification cycle," says Eric Edelson, CEO of Fireclay Tile. "Our 2023 score of 127.7 demonstrates our ongoing commitment to using business as a force for good. Key Achievements in the 2023 Impact Report
B Corp Recertification
We’ve achieved a B Corp score of 127.7, significantly higher than our 2020 score of 115.4. This accomplishment is a testament to our dedication to corporate responsibility, sustainable business practices, and robust environmental stewardship.
Sustainability Initiatives
In 2023, we made substantial advancements toward cleaner and more energy-efficient manufacturing operations including the installation of a 634.56kW PV solar array and 534kWh Energy Storage System at our Aromas factory–which offsets over 70% of its electricity needs. This step has considerably reduced our carbon footprint and brought us closer to our goal of becoming a fully sustainable operation.
Community Engagement
We launched our first Annual Day of Service, which saw nearly 100% participation from our teammates across the country, totaling over 2,500 volunteer hours! This initiative strengthens our bond with our local communities and allows every single one of us to give back in meaningful ways.
Product Innovation
Last year we were thrilled to introduce our Natural Press Ceramic Tile product line, manufactured in our Spokane, WA factory. This new line combines affordability with sustainability, offering high-quality, USA-made tiles at competitive prices. Broadening access to lower-cost materials like Natural Press allows a larger audience to adopt sustainable building practices.
Employee Development
Our people are the heart of Fireclay Tile. In 2023, we enhanced employee benefits, raised wages, and celebrated internal achievements. Ensuring that our team members are well-supported and motivated is crucial to our success and the positive culture we foster here.
