Can you tell me about your home? Was this bathroom project a part of a larger remodel or renovation?
My home was built in the 1950s but it lacked any character. It was already flipped by an investor when we bought it but they did a terrible job so we had to clean up their mess. It had four small bedrooms so we decided to consolidate two rooms to create a bigger master bedroom and brand new en suite bathroom.

What type of look or aesthetic were you going for?
We wanted the bathroom to be a comfortable and calming space while playing with arches.

How did you come up with your color scheme and design for the bathroom?
It was inspired by the architecture and colors from the Boquera Morilla House.

What made you choose Sea Glass? Were there any other contenders?
It was either that or Clover. But the Sea Glass color was almost exactly as the color of the pool from the inspiration.

How did you land on the straight-set pattern?
It’s a simple and modern pattern for the floor.

How did the installation process go? Did you face any challenges?
The installation for the floor tiles was very easy. My dad is a contractor and he didn’t have any issues installing them.

How was designing for your own home? Lessons learned?
I’ve definitely made a few design mistakes and I learned a lot from working with my dad. When it comes to executing bathroom and shower designs, we have to make sure how to design a functional bathroom by making sure water isn’t gonna sit still on any surfaces. That pitch on the shower floor tiles or niche is so important.

What Fireclay products are you dying to use in future projects?
I’m dying to use the Star and Cross pattern!
