Calculating your Estimated Carbon Offset
We continuously strive to address our carbon footprint by investing in carbon offsets, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), and major energy efficiency projects. To make this tangible, we’ve calculated the estimated eCO2 savings linked to each account.
Each year, WAP Sustainability, our independent 3rd party sustainability partner, calculates our total annual carbon emitted. We then go to market to find verified carbon credits and RECs to offset the impact the production of our products has caused. We take this total amount of carbon and divide it by the square footage of tile we produced that year to get an offset value per square foot. We then multiply that value by the total square footage you purchased in that year to estimate the eCO2 savings your orders have supported.
This calculation estimates the carbon savings associated with your Fireclay purchases. We do not calculate the exact emissions for each specific product, but we believe this estimate accurately reflects the positive impact of choosing Fireclay and appreciate your understanding.
