Whether it is sending free samples, helping you choose a color and size, or offering prices and quotes, our talented Design Consultants are here to help. One of the benefits of working with our Design Consultants is they can offer you architectural renderings to help you visualize your project based on your tile selection and the actual dimensions of your space. Our Drawing Program Manager, Denise, gets to help our customers bring their ideas to life everyday, so we sat down to chat with her about how she got her start and what it's like being Fireclay Tile's Lead Renderer.

What is your background in design?  Where did you go to school?
Even from a young age art was a big part of my life. One of my favorite past times as a kid was going to art museums with family. Community college was where I really found my passion for interior design. I took a couple classes regarding design and colors where I learned the basics of interior design. I knew I had found my niche. I transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design.

What made you want to work for Fireclay Tile?
Their sustainability efforts astounded me. Having so many options with recycled content and locally sourced really won me over! One of my favorite past times as a kid was going to art museums with family.

When did you first discover SketchUp?
My first taste of the SketchUp world was in 2012. My AutoCAD class final in college was a SketchUp tutorial. After that I was hooked! My last year at SFSU we had a SketchUp seminar through our college ASID chapter where I was able to hone in my skills.

What do you love about creating renderings for customers?
It sounds really cheesy but the finished product. I love bringing clients ideas to life, giving people the opportunity to visualize our tile in their own space before they buy.

Do you have a favorite project you have worked on?
It's really hard to pick my favorite, usually the more intricate the better.

Why do you think it helps customers to be able to envision their space before purchasing tile?
We use pictures and measurements from the client space-- it personalizes the drawings we create. We make it possible for each customer to see their space in different patterns, colors, styles, and trim before they purchase.
