Tile School: Lighting Test

When you are picking out your tile, you go through a number of steps to make sure it is the right choice. You search for a color that suits you, your style and your space. You likely look at countless  colors and finishes to find the perfect match that works with your other chosen materials, but what about lighting?

Whether you visit us in one of our showrooms or order samples online, we'll always encourage that you look at the tile in the space it will eventually be installed in. Both natural and artificial light affect the color of your tile and we want you to be 100% thrilled with the end result.

Below, you can see the difference between the natural and artifical light.

You can see below that the homeowner has painted the fireplace, but also how lighting has affected the color of the tile.

You should also consider how a finish will look under certain lights. With the high shine of a glossy finish, you will see light reflection as shown in the image below.

Are you installing under cabinet lighting? Make sure to test various light bulbs to find the one that best shows the natural color of your tile.

Do you have a lot of natural light in your space like the kitchen below? If so, just be sure to look at the color samples in the space at various times of the day.
