Tile Color Spotlight: 3 Moods with Blue and Yellow

Image: Happy Mundane

Although it may be full-out fall in your neck of the woods, here at the Fireclay headquarters in temperate San Francisco it’s nothing but blue skies. And although we can’t get enough of pumpkin spiced lattes and apple cider doughnuts, we thought it’d be nice to reflect our summery state with a sunny color spotlight.

Don’t be fooled by blue and yellow’s sunny demeanor. Both hues come in a wide range of shades, which can have different effects on your space. Today, we’ll show you 3 moods you can achieve with this surprisingly dynamic pair.

1. Poised to Perfection

When paired as darker shades, blue and yellow can be quite the power couple. This corner exudes dapper, midcentury-inspired sophistication.

A yellow tile-lined arch painted in blue elegantly frames this bathroom’s main focal point, a luxurious claw-footed tub and marble wall.

2. Cool & Collected

A backdrop of blue can bring a soothing sense of calm to almost any space. Incorporating splashes of yellow lends it a sprightly uplift.

Even a subtle hints of yellow and blue can add airy appeal to a room. A wall of handcrafted yellow tile adds warm golden tones.

3. Clear Skies

Given its fair weather inspiration, we can’t deny blue and yellow’s summery appeal. It’s just what we need to add sunshine to fall’s shorter days.

No matter what it’s like outside, this bright yellow room is sure to warm any soul. We love the splash of sky blue tile framing the fireplace.
