Stories: Dutch Masters Palette

Stories: Dutch Masters Palette

Talk about strokes of genius—our Dutch Masters Palette marks the debut of Stories, a curated sampling experience drawn from the things that inspire us. Taking cues from Dutch Still Life paintings, we've curated a tile selection meant to create masterful layers of color. Craft your own inspired composition by thoughtfully pairing deeply saturated hues with vibrant glazes. Tying it all together are crackled textures that point to expert hand craftsmanship. We're sharing inspiration below, but if you want more, head to our Pinterest Board.

In the years of the Dutch Golden Age, painters used still lifes to showcase their command of texture and attention to detail. And they obsessed over color almost as much as we do. It turns out their plays on light, earthy depth, and crackled textures were the perfect match for our handcrafted tile. Here's our palette, you can order all these colors by visiting here.

Tile Shown: Calcite, Chardonnay, Serpentine, Venetian Green, Antique, Stilbite, Loch Ness and Basil with Black Patine.

Lighting is Everything:
With art, lighting makes all the difference. Our tiles are no different. Observe your color samples under natural and artificial light to make sure it's right for your space. You can capture this enigmatic play on light with a gradient of the colors in this collection or pair of a few with other rich textures and finishes.

Highlight the warmth of Stilbite, by pairing with other warm materials:

Cool Stilbite down by surrounding it with cool neutrals. We love the effect of the warm and cool hues in the kitchen below:

Touches of Drama:
This collection's moody and vibrant glazes pair beautifully with marble surfaces and bronze hardware, creating alluring layers of texture and color.

The kitchen below beautifully illustrates how the colors in this collection can work together. Consider Antique for your rustic floor tile and pair with Loch Ness for your kitchen backsplash; if you're feeling bold, add a pop of color with one of the brighter shades, like Serpentine.

Painterly Touches:
High color variation and crazing occurs naturally in some of our glazes like Venetian Green, Basil with Black Patine and Loch Ness. Let the handmade quality shine with this collection of colors.

Pair one of these rich glazes, like Venetian Green, with lighter, warm neutrals for a bold installation, like the one below:

Shades of Beauty:
For an eye-catching installation, mix dramatic darks with earthy hues. Blend in a warm neutral for a balanced palette.

Tile Shown: 1x6 Tiles in Antique.

Let the saturated tone and beautiful variation of Antique shine, by pairing with a soft neutral like Chardonnay or a bright white like Calcite:

Tile Shown: Glazed Thin Brick in Cotton and 4x4 tiles in Antique.

Chardonnay's yellow undertones make it easy to pair with the other cool greens and warm neutrals of this collection:
