If you've been dreaming of giving your kitchen a little makeover, 2015 may be the perfect time to get the ball rolling.  Before you commit to a kitchen design, it is important to do research and make sure you know exactly what you want to accomplish before you start your kitchen renovation project.  To help spark your imagination we've put together a list of our favorite kitchen remodel ideas and design elements that are sure to be a hit this year.  Whether you choose one idea, or decide to incorporate a few, these kitchen trends will turn you're kitchen into a space you'll never want to leave.

Blending Styles

When designing your kitchen, you don't have to commit to one specific style.  One of our favorite trends for 2015 is the idea of blending styles.  Similar to the kitchen above, try pairing a modern or industrial kitchen style with traditional design elements.  The combination of multiple styles brings warmth and welcoming appeal to that sleek, modern look you love.

Open Shelving

Practical and functional design elements are key to a good kitchen design, and in 2015 we expect to see this become more and more apparent.  One of our favorite ways to create a functional kitchen is by installing open shelving.  Open shelving provides storage for your space, but personalizes your kitchen at the same time.  It gives you a chance to really add character to your design, while having everything you need at an arms reach.

White on White

We love white.  It is clean, fresh, and goes with everything.  In 2015 we expect to see white remain a popular choice for kitchen remodels.  For an ultra contemporary look try a white on white look.  The kitchen below achieves this by pairing white tile and cabinets with a muted gray countertop and stainless steel appliances.  The space feels warm with the addition of a playful herringbone tile backsplash and cheerful yellow decor.

Butcher Block Islands

Everyone needs more space to cook, which is why we love a spacious butcher block island in the kitchen.  Both functional and beautiful, a butcher block surface will add character to the space and tie together other design elements in the room.

Two Tone Cabinets

No one ever said your kitchen cabinets have to match.  One of our absolute favorite kitchen design trends for 2015 are two toned cabinets.  You can pair sleek white cabinets with textures wood, or opt for two colors like blue and gray.  Either way, two-tones cabinets in the kitchen add a sense of originality to your kitchen design.

Sleek Range Hoods

A sleek range hood will make an immediate statement in your kitchen design.  For the biggest impact try a stainless steel hood over an interesting tile backspash that goes all the way to the ceiling.  The smooth texture of the hood provides contrast against the tile, making it stand out even more.

Double Islands

Again, more space and functionality are important kitchen trends for 2015.  If you have the space why not try adding two islands?  Not only does this provide more space to cook, and doubles the amount of storage you have available in your kitchen, but it provides two spaces for enjoying your kitchen.  You can cook on one island while a family member enjoys a snack, or a good book on the other.  Two islands in the kitchen will turn your space into a gathering place for family and friends.

Stainless Steel and Marble

Pairing stainless steel with marble is a classic choice for contemporary and modern kitchen designs, but we still see it going strong in 2015.  We love how the kitchen below complements the pair with two-toned cabinetry and a cool glass backsplash.

Breakfast Nook

Adding a space to gather in your kitchen is one of our favorite trends for 2015.  If you don't have space for a second island, try adding more seating by creating a small breakfast nook.  We love how the kitchen below takes advantage of the additional space created by the bay windows and creates a charming breakfast nook perfect for enjoying the view.

Custom Cabinetry

In 2015 we see custom details being a top trend.  Cabinets are the perfect place to start customizing because a little design detail goes a long way.  The kitchen below adds custom personality to their kitchen cabinets by installing a few drawer pulls in a cool green glass that matches their tile backsplash.

Ceiling Details

Don't forget about the ceiling when designing your kitchen.  Design details that make it all the way to the celing will be a big hit in 2015.  For this trend try matching your ceiling design to other design elements in the space.  For example, the kitchen below has rustic wood on their kitchen island, so they highlighted the rustic wood beams on their ceiling.

White Tile and Dark Grout Line

White tile and dark grout has been making a comeback the past few years, and we don't see this trend going anywhere in 2015.  To give this look a little more interest, try choosing a specialty pattern rather than a simple field tile size.  The kitchen below creates energy and movement with our Moroccan shape, Ogee Drop in a crisp white hue and dark grout.

Open Floor Plans

There is nothing better than a great open floor plan.   An open floor plan makes your entire space feel like one and brings together different elements of your home.  If you are remodeling your kitchen in 2015, we seriously suggest giving this trend a try.

Metallics

Warm metals like gold, brass and bronze are sure to shine in 2015.  These luxe metallics go a long way so you only need to incorporate them here and there to make a statement.  We love how the kitchen below adds character to the space with a bronze range hood.  Your eye is immediately drawn the metallic finish.
