Designer Spotlights

Designer Spotlight: Meet Anastasia Faiella of Faiella Design

By Shannon Malone |

Anastasia Faiella

Meet Anastasia Faiella, a good friend of the Fireclay Team and a San Francisco-based interior designer with some serious talent.  With a background as a painter and fine artist, Anastasia's path toward a career in Interior Design was an organic transition.  As she explains, "Interior design allows me to combine my love for fine materials, design and interior spaces with my skills as a painter and colorist."  With a creative background and a passion for fine home furnishings, Faiella started her own design firm, Faiella Design where she bases all her work on a simple design philosophy, "living in beauty is loving the home you live in".

Faiella draws inspiration from the art of painting, treating her client's spaces as a blank canvas, seamlessly blending beauty and function.  Her designs are meant to reflect the personalities of those living in them, and are designed to be works of art that are still comfortable and livable. "Home is the intimate place we retreat to from the rest of the world, our safe haven. Enriching our living environment to its fullest potential and treating it as a safe haven makes a difference in how we live our lives," says Faiella.

A Quick Chat With Anastasia...

My style can be described as... Dramatic and interesting, with a twist of comfortable.

My design philosophy is… Be inspired, design with what makes you happy.  Maybe it’s your favorite color, piece of art, family photo or even a flower. Keep it simple, I am always a fan of “less is more”.  Also, comfort–What’s a super beautiful room if you can't kick off your shoes and relax? Remember your home is your retreat!

I got my start…Very hands on redesigning every apartment and home I have lived in for the past 20 years. Working at the SFDC in the showrooms which sparked my passion for beautiful textiles, materials and furnishings.  I am a painter/fine artist too.  I have a masters of fine arts degree from the University of California Berkeley, which gave me an in depth understanding of color, spacial composition, and seeing the bigger picture.

I find inspiration in… Art, nature, and The world of Interiors is my favorite design magazine.

I can’t live without…The ocean and lots of sunshine.

My best design advice would be… Keep it simple and take your time, get your floor plan and budget together before starting on any shopping.

I love Tile because… It adds another layer of texture, pattern, drama and color to a designed space. There are so many design possibilities with tile, It can really be the one detail that ties a room together and makes it special, I love tile!

My favorite Fireclay color is… This is a really hard question, there are so many fantastic designs! I would say I am in love with the Contemporary Handpainted Collection and in particular, Isosceles in the Dark Motif.  It is super sophisticated and of course dramatic!

Thanks for chatting with us, Anastasia!
