Quilting seems to be making a comeback and not just in the textile department. We've been seeing a lot more "tile quilting" these days and we love it! From classic to contemporary, we see so many possibilities for this concept. This idea works wonderfully for flooring in various rooms and can also add a point of interest to a kitchen or bathroom backsplash. You can choose several different patterns or just choose a few for a more consistent look. And keep in mind that we make everything to order here at Fireclay, so use our COLOR-IT Tool to customize our handpainted tiles exactly how you want them! Below, we'll share our three favorite ways to realize patchwork tiling in your home.
If you aren't afraid of color and pattern, you can really have some fun with tile quilting. You can pull from all of our Handpainted Collections to create a truly patch-worked creation. You can see below a rendering of an eclectic tiled quilt in the works! This illustrates how you really can pull from many different themes and color palettes and still get an outcome that all works together.

We love the soft, pastel color palette of the kitchen above. While the kitchen below shows how you might also mix in solid color tiles to break up the patterns.
If you are sticking to a particular color palette, this might be there right way to go for you. Choose your colors and use our COLOR-IT tool to customize the handprinted patterns you like the best.

If you like the blue look from above, you could try:
Tile Shown: Malta in Cool Motif. Note: Each tile measures 8x8.
Tile Shown: Kasbah Trellis in Cool Motif.
Tile Shown: Jardin Fretwork in Cool Motif. Keep in mind you can also customize which colors you use for you handpainted tiles!
We love this neutral take on tile quilting, as shown below. The ever appealing creams, grays and tans soften the patterns in a modern way. For a look similar to the one above, you could try a few to several patterns in a neutral motif from our Mediterranean, Moroccan or Contemporary Collections.

It would look incredible to do something like the below installation entirely in our Sakura Collection in an all white motif.
If you have a bright white, contemporary kitchen or bathroom like the ones above and want additional texture and elegance, you might look at a few patterns we've suggested below for either a backplash or flooring:
