Design Trends: Go Geometric!

Tile Shown: Picket in White Wash

Geometry and tile certainly go hand in hand. We're seeing more and more people opt for geometric shapes and patterns these days and imagine that we will only see more after a new pentagon was recently discovered by mathematicians (see image below). We love shapes around here and have a lot to offer in this department. Whether you want to use one of our specialty shapes or would rather go with a pattern, we've got you covered. Below, we'll show you are favorite ways to play with geometry.

Our specialty shapes are a great way to add interest (and a geometric feel) to your spaces and a few of our standard field tile shapes work too! These shapes make for great backsplashes, but also work very well for flooring as all the lines help with grip once grout is set. You can go bold and choose a vibrant color and highlight the lines of the shape by choosing a contrasting grout color or you go all white or neutral and let the shape be the statement.

With a Pattern:

A pattern is a nice way to express some geometric flair as well.

Tile Shown: Brick in a Herringbone Pattern. You can try this in a single color, or consider doing stripes or a randomized pattern. This pattern can be accomplished with all of our materials.

Tile Shown: 1x6 in Daffodil in a Parquet pattern. This is a scaled down version, you will typically see this in 3x6 Subway tile, but can be done with various sizes and in Brick and Glass too!

With Handpainted:

You can also look to a few of our Handpainted Collections for geometric inspiration. Both of our Contemporary and Sakura collections have a number of patterns that fit within this look.
