FAQ
- Why are you discontinuing the Jellybean Glass and Pebbles?
This was actually an easy decision for us. 2009 was all about getting back to our roots as a company and brand, so we decided to only sell products that we designed and made. Jellybeans did not fit this criteria, so we decided to discontinue selling them. - How should the substrate be prepared?
Substrate must be flat and free of all dirt and grease. Make sure that proper drainage is built for shower floors and exterior floors. - How should I waterproof the substrate?
Use a waterproofing membrane over the substrate in wet areas. Follow the waterproof membrane manufactuere’s instructions for installation. - How long do I let Jelly Bean Rocks set?
Use white multi-purpose thin-set to install Jelly Bean Rocks. Using 1/4” notched trowel, evenly spread thin set over the substrate. Push jelly bean mesh into thin-set. Wipe surface clean from thin-set. Allow thin-set to set for 24 hours before grouting. 4"x12” and 12"x12” sheets have intertocking edges. Install pieces as tightly together as possible. Loose pebbles are supplied with every order to fill in where necessary. - How do I grout Jelly Bean Rocks? Use only mold resistant grout. Follow manufacturer’s grouting instructions. Make sure to clean grout thoroughly before it sets.
- How do I seal Jelly Bean Rocks? After the grout is cured, seal the Jelly Bean Rocks and grout with a penetrating or impregnating sealer. If you want a deeper color use an enhancing sealer and it will bring out the color of the stones. Reapply sealer per manufacturer’s instructions.
- What about Accent and Border installations? For small jobs use All-in-One pre-mixed adhesive/grout compound. All-in-One is mildew and stain resistant. It is available in five colors: Sanded White, Smooth White, Sanded Antique White, Sanded Natural Gray and Sanded Almond. All-in-One is available at major building supply stores.
- What about curved surfaces?
Jelly Been Rocks is easy to install on curved surfaces. Inspect carefully for missing beans and fill in as needed.
