We are currently looking for an energetic, detail-oriented Production Assistant for new recycled glass tile factory. You are qualified for this job if you love making things, have a very strong work ethic, have an eye for color and detail, are open to new challenges, and like process and routines. This position is physically demanding and entails heavy lifting in a fast pace environment that is sometimes quite cold or hot. You will be on your feet all day. That said there is a creative and artisan component to the job that will excite you if you have a desire to work in a manufacturing environment that makes beautiful things. You will be responsible for all of our sample production and fulfillment, including ensuring our sample department is always stocked and materials have passed quality control and are properly organized and labeled. You will also be involved in mosaic sheeting of tile designs.

Our company is located in downtown San Jose, CA where we manufacture this eco-friendly product.

In this role you will be:

• Managing sample inventory and ensuring samples are perfect each and every time.
• Ensuring quality control. Ensuring each and every order shipped is perfect.
• Packing and shipping customer orders and ensuring quality control.
• Mounting mosaic sheets of tile, which means taking patterns descriptions and bringing those ideas to life for our customers. Eye for detail and speedy hands is important
• Getting dirty -- our environment can be dusty at times.
• Finding ways to improve the factory.
• Must speak English. Spanish speaking is not required but is a benefit.
• Lifting heavy buckets or boxes at times which may weigh 40-50 lbs.

You'd be a great fit for this role if you:

• Enjoy artisan manufacturing and appreciate what it means to take a beautiful craft and produce it at scale.
• Have worked in a factory before. Can handle both cold and hot working environments. Can handle being on your feet all day with lots of moving around and at times repetitive movements.
• Have an eye for color. Attention to detail is critical.
• Can lift heavy loads and are ok with a very fast paced environment. Must be able to list 40 lbs over your head.
• Love making things and are passionate about process
• Like surfacing materials and making beautiful, sustainable materials
• Are a self-starter and don't need any hand holding, but can take feedback well and give it right back at the same time.
• Have a positive, energetic mindset and come to work with a smile on your face every day.
• Are fun, passionate and learn quickly. Love being part of a small company and personally contributing to our team's success.

Compensation will start at $12.00 per hour. You will be hired as an independent contractor for an initial month-long trial period. If hired as a fulltime employee, Fireclay offers benefits including healthcare and vacation as well as salary progression.
